Al Davis, age 79, of Story, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020. He was born on August 13, 1940, in Norman, the son of Alfred Davis and Emma Chester Lane Davis. On November 1, 1961, he was married to Colleen Leavitt Davis who preceded him in death on March 3, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Johnny Davis and Robert Davis. Al was a United States Army Veteran and for several years was Camp Host for Little Fir Campgrounds. He attended Liberty Baptist Church, enjoyed fishing and camping, and in his later years absolutely loved going dancing. Al was a kind-hearted and compassionate man, who truly loved his family and friends, and always enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. He is going to be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Kela Davis of Glenwood and Tommy and April Davis of North Dakota; one daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Joey Weston of Alamo; his special companion, Shirley Abbott of Story; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer Davis, Chase (Shanice) Davis, Amy (Cody) Gaston, Joe (Devan) Weston, Kaitlyn Davis (Cody Isom), Colton Davis, Matthew Murray and Vanessa (Josh) Echols; eight great-grandchildren, Jake Gaston, Jaci Gaston, Levi Weston, Carter Weston, Lakynn Weston, Grayson Davis, Eric Echols and Raylan Echols; his bonus great-grandson, Jaxon Rutledge; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 18, 2020, in the Black Springs Cemetery with Bro. Jeremy Graves officiating. Pallbearers will be Colton Davis, Joe Weston, Cody Gaston, Cody Isom, Matthew Murray and Chase Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses, CNAs, and staff of CHI St. Vincent Home Health Care. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
