Audrey Carter, age 85, of Hot Springs, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 13, 2019.
She was born on November 5, 1933, in Cotton Plant, the daughter of Walter Black and Martha Sanders Black. On April 16, 1951, she married R.L. “Bill” Carter who preceded her in death on June 5, 2012. She was also preceded by her son, John Carter; her son-in-law, Charles Swint; her parents; three brothers, Albert Black, Tommy Lee Black and James “Red” Black; and two sisters, Mary Staten and Lola Parker.
Audrey was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and most recently, Hot Springs Baptist Church. She received her Bachelors of Science degree in nursing from Phillips County Community College and worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years. Audrey retired from the Arkansas State Health Department after 20 years of service.
She is leaving behind her legacy to her daughter, Felecia Swint of Hot Springs; five grandchildren, Audrey and Michael Sheets, Gabe and Angie Carter, Bill and Christina Swint, Tyler Carter and Leah Foster; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandsons; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of wonderful friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Hot Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Smith and Rev. Grady Parker officiating.
Interment will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time on Saturday, at the church.
Pallbearers will be Hunner Swint, John Ethan Swint, Charlie Swint, Joshua Sheets, John Sheets, Gavin Mayhew and Austin Mayhew.
Memorials may be made to Hot Springs Baptist Church Benevolent Fund or Arkansas Hospice.
