Beatrice "Bea" Ann Ledbetter, age 86, of Vilonia, formerly of Glenwood, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Bea was born on October 8, 1929, in Fouke, the daughter of Sarah Burris Beard and Freeman Lee Beard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Ledbetter; two sons, Steven B. Ledbetter and Jack R. McBride, Jr.; and her first husband, Jack R. McBride. She was Christian in her belief, and always strong and unwavering in her convictions. Her memory was so precise; she knew dates and times of many events. She was notorious for knowing friends', relatives' and even acquaintances' birthdays completely by memory. She called many people each year with happy birthday wishes. Countless birthdays she remembered in her lifetime - many remembered after their deaths. An excellent pianist in her younger years, she only learned to play Gospel music. Her favorite songs to play were "Just As I Am", "Standing On The Promises" and "In the Garden". She loved to see cardinals in the winter snow and hummingbirds in the summer. She adored paintings of beautiful landscapes, particularly ones of old barns and autumn scenery, as the fall was her favorite season of the year. But nothing was more beautiful in nature to her than a vegetable garden. She is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Leona and Jack Webster of Vilonia, Zoe Lewis of Little Rock, Carla York of Mena and Kareth and John Baber of Glenwood; one daughter-in-law, Diane McBride of Blytheville; seventeen grandchildren, Kelly Wilson of Conway, Phillip Wilson of Vilonia, Carl Wilson of Paragould, Jennifer Wilson Herndon of Vilonia, Jackie Jones of Gosnell, Hilary Lafferty of Fairbanks, Alaska, Courtney Lewis of Little Rock, Chad York of Williston, North Dakota, Chasity York Gillaspy of Glenwood, Mike York of Mena, Sherri Adcock of Glenwood, Subrina Cogburn of Glenwood, Steven Ledbetter, Jr. of Malvern, Heather Baber-Dent of Little Rock, J.C. Baber of Glenwood, Holly Baber of Little Rock and Dylan Baber of Glenwood; thirty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, most of Conway. Visitation will be Friday, 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, prior to the services. Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
