Bob Simmons

Bob Simmons, age 96, of Langley, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012. He was born on August 31, 1915, at Langley, the son of Tom Simmons and Mary Etta Forrester Simmons. On August 6, 1938, he was married to May Bell Marsh Simmons who preceded him in death on October 9, 1990. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Brook Simmons, Tony Simmons and Dempsey Simmons. He was a World War II Army veteran and owned and operated a nursery. After retiring from Allis-Chalmers as a tool and dye maker in Indiana, Bob came home to Langley. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and living off the land. He is survived by two nieces, Nila and Ken Lewis of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Melba Hanson of Muskogee, Oklahoma; two nephews Tom and Debbie Simmons of Tipp City, Ohio and Steve Simmons of Elwood, Indiana; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 24, 2012, in the Langley Hall Church with Gerald Eaton officiating. Interment will be in the Langley Hall Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Jamie Oliver, Jesse Oliver, Ken Lewis, Jay Hanson, Jerry Bailey and Tim Gentry. Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Golden, Henry J. "Hank" Marsh, Tom Simmons, Steve Simmons, Chris Oliver, Cole Hanson and Brandt Hanson. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
