Cecil "Hoyt" Evans, age 70, of Murfreesboro, died Sunday, June 19, 2011. He was born on August 24, 1940, at Eagleton, the son of Joseph Edgar Evans and Lola Jane Whisenhunt Evans. On September 12, 1961, he was married to Linnie V. Rodgers. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Cecil Dwayne Evans; two brothers, Loyd Evans and Sonny Evans; and two sisters, Gracie Jordan and Marie Smith. He worked in the timber business and was Baptist in his faith. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting and was a commercial fisherman. A former president of the Diamond City CB Club, he was known by his CB handle "Fisherman". He is survived by his wife, Linnie Evans of Murfreesboro; one son Darrell Evans of Murfreesboro; one daughter and son-in-law, Becke and Bobby Miller of Nashville; four grandchildren, Tana Teague, and her husband, Larry, Shelton Miller, Sara Miller and Shayla Miller; one great-grandson, Landon Miller; one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Lois Evans of Nashville; one sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Alan Inman of Malvern; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 22, 2011, in the Coker Cemetery with Bro. Bobby Lock officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Dennis Evans, Donald Jordan, Shelton Miller, Timmy Evans, Brad Evans and Michael West.
