Dale Howell

May 7, 1944 — January 27, 2013

On Sunday, January 27, 2013, Heaven gained a great disciple. Dale Howell, age 68, of Norman, passed to his heavenly home. He was born on May 7, 1944 in Norman, the son of the late Oscar Howell and Opal Reed Howell. On May 10, 1963, he married Charlotte Golden Howell who became his best friend and companion for almost 50 years. He was a Baptist minister who served at Big Fork, Mt. Gilead and was the current Pastor at Murphy Baptist Church, which he called home. He was Plant Superintendent at CertainTeed Roofing Company, Caddo Gap Plant, where he had worked for 37 years. When he was not at the mill, you could find him working on his farm or spending time with family. He would always say that family is second only to your relationship with the Lord. Those left to cherish his memories and his many teachings are his wife, Charlotte Howell of Norman; two daughters, Sheila Russell (Terry) of Hot Springs and Pam Scott (Richard) of Norman; one son, Hank Howell (Bridgette) of Crockets Bluff; eight grandchildren, most who were never called by their given name, Ashley "Booge" Bailey of Odessa Texas, Tosha "Peanut" McKamie (Roy), of Norman, James Dale "Little Man" Cooper and Christopher "Little Buddy" Cooper, both of Hot Springs, Charlie Joe "Bud" Howell, Breanna "Lady Bug" Howell, both of Crockets Bluff, Jessie Scott, Cameron Buckley and Carson Timbs, all of Hot Springs; two great grandchildren, Cheyenne "Princess" McKamie of Norman and Eli "Little Bit" Bailey of Odessa Texas; one brother, Oscar Gene Howell (Louise) of Norman; one sister Jackie Hamilton (Gene) of Hot Springs; two aunts, Ernestine Reynolds of Glenwood and Laverna Ford of Tyler Texas; four nieces; and a host of friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 30, 2013, in the Murphy Baptist Church with Bro. Doug Wills officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers are Mark Profit, Mickey Brown, Raymond Whitehead, Jack York, Tony Moore, James Gaston, Bryan Bailey and James Dale Cooper. Honorary Pallbearers are Marvin Black, employees of CertainTeed, Caddo Gap Plant, and members of Murphy Baptist Church. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
