Dewey "Boe" Cogburn

September 1, 1938 — April 14, 2014

Dewey "Boe" Cogburn, age 75, of Glenwood, died Monday, April 14, 2014. He was born on September 1, 1938, at Newhope, the son of Bennett "Nort" Jewell Cogburn and Octavia Victoria Gatlin Cogburn. On March 11, 1956, he was married to Vida Ann Porter. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wayne Cogburn; and two sisters, Helen Davis Cogburn and Oma Jewell Kirkpatrick. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family, whom he dearly loved, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Vida Ann Cogburn of Glenwood; two daughters, Doris Godines and Regina Griffith, both of Glenwood; six grandchildren and their spouses, Darla and Larry Theoboldt, David and Bonnie Godines, Larry Parker, Brandon and Cheryl Cogburn, Mary and Angelo Quiroz and Michael and Brandy Griffith; eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, L. D. and Carol Cogburn of Norman, Kenneth and Janice Cogburn and Granville and Rosie Cogburn, all of Glenwood; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Lois Wilhite of Glenwood, Shirley Spears of Amity, Lee Ellen Standridge of Hot Springs and Doris and Johnny Rhodes of Nashville; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 17, 2014, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Joe Cogburn officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Newhope. Pallbearers will be Larry Parker, David Godines, Brandon Cogburn, Michael Griffith, Angelo Quiroz, Jr. and Joe Quiroz. Honorary pallbearers will be Angelo Quiroz, Sr., James Cogburn, Dylan Wilhite, Charlie Cogburn and Tommy Cogburn. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
