Dorothy Ann (Haggard) Wright

Dorothy Ann (Haggard) Wright of Glenwood, passed from this life October 20, 2014 at the age of 74. She was born November 9, 1939 to Hallie and Mennie Hendon Haggard. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; and her brothers Harlo, Marlin, and Gary Haggard. Dorothy Wright was a native of Glenwood, but also lived in California and a considerable time in New Mexico. She was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving and protective mother, and an adoring and delighted grandmother. Along with her husband, she will be known as someone who was true in friendships and ready to make new friends whenever given the opportunity. She is survived by her husband, Darrell Wright, to whom she had been married 56 years. She is also survived by her two sons; Doug Wright of Glenwood, and Danny Wright of Gallatin, Tennessee; her brother, Dr. John L. Haggard of Hot Springs, and daughters-in-law Dana Wright and Rebecca Wright. She was the proud and adoring grandmother of Laura Wright Cummins, Delaney Wright, Seth Wright, Jacob Wright, Sarah Grace Wright, and Jessica Wright. Additionally Beverly Haggard of Hatch, New Mexico; Casey Haggard and Andrew Haggard, both of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and Holly Haggard of Hot Springs, Arkansas. She is also survived by a great number of cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cherished friends, all of them very dear to her. The family wishes to express their special thanks to her physicians and the medical professionals of St. Vincent Hospital for the extraordinary kindnesses extended to her and her family. A memorial service is planned for 2.00pm on Thursday, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Glenwood; with burial to be at Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Visitation will be at Bethel Church from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that instead, memorial contributions be directed to the Building Fund of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, c/o George Baker, P.O. Box 1433, Glenwood AR 71943. Pallbearers will be Eddie Herring, Ernie Wright, Darrell Mitchell, Brad Porter, James Montgomery and Walt Connell. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
