Dorothy Lawless

Dorothy Lawless, age 95, of Murfreesboro, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014. She was born on January 1, 1919, at Roy, the daughter of Luther Steuart and Mary Ann Oliver Steuart. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Barbara Stewart; and three brothers, Bobby Steuart, J. T. Steuart and Gail Steuart. She was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, a member of AMVETS and a member of the First Christian Church of Murfreesboro. She enjoyed going to church, quilting, crocheting and playing bingo. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren, whom she dearly loved with all her heart. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her four grandchildren, Donna Chaffee of Joplin, Missouri, David Chaffee of Springdale, Deanna Osment of Fort Worth, Texas and Daniel Irvin and his wife, Hannah, of Hot Springs; six great-grandchildren, Erik, Brooke, Daxton, Kathleen, Kenley and Kimber; her son-in-law, Nickey Stewart of Murfreesboro; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Thelma Maroon of Murfreesboro, Mary Jo Combs and Wanda Letha and Jerry Wherry, all of Pine Bluff; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of wonderful friends. A Memorial Service will be held by the family at 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 2, 2014, in the First Christian Church of Murfreesboro with Rob Evans officiating. A family visitation will be held Saturday evening, 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, at the First Christian Church of Murfreesboro. Interment of cremated remains with military honors will be immediately following the Memorial Service at the Japany Cemetery, in Murfreesboro. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
