Earnest Edward "Ernie" Simpson, age 74, of the Sulphur Springs community in Montgomery County, died Saturday, December 29, 2012. He was born on January 5, 1938 at Opal, Arkansas, the son of Edward Simpson and Ester Brewer Simpson. On March 5, 1964, he was married to Edna Loretta Kiser. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister-in-law, Velma Simpson. He was a road grader operator for the Montgomery County Road Department for 27 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and arguing with his grandkids. He is survived by his wife, Edna Simpson of Sulphur Springs; two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward Wayne and Lisa Voan Simpson of Norman and Gary and Lisa Jackson Simpson of Hot Springs; four grandchildren, Christie Simpson and Neil Simpson both of Norman, Kaylee Simpson of Glenwood and Devin Simpson of Hot Springs; his brother, Elmer Simpson of Sulphur Springs; three sisters, Eva Tanner of Gustine, California, Evaughn Ralls of Mena and Helen Gortemiller of Greenville, Texas; and two sisters-in-law, Emily Fryar of Oden and Margie Lewis of Mena. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 1, 2013 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. James Hughes officiating. Visitation will be Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Jones, Richard Lane, Dink Davis, Olen Wilson, David Lybrand, Russell Meyers, Ronnie Mayberry and Wayne McClard. Honorary pallbearers will be all current and former employees of the Montgomery County Road Department, Judge L. J. Warneke, Judge Ted Abernathy and Judge Ted Elder.
