Freddie Mae Austin, age 74, of Caddo Gap, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at her home. She was born on January 25, 1943 in Bonnerdale, the daughter of Dale Cecil Diggs and Lela Vernice Ledbetter Diggs. On September 19, 1958, she was married to George Austin who preceded her in death on August 17, 1999. She was a retired nurse and had worked with her husband operating Austin Monuments. She is survived by her son, Johnny Austin of Mena; her daughter, Dede Senn of Harrison; two grandsons, George Hancock of Alabama and Tyler Hancock of Florida; her great-granddaughter, Abigail Hancock of Alabama; two sisters, Loretta Engel of Iowa and Jean Pinson of Jonesboro; and her nieces and nephews. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
