George "Bud" Prince Tillman

May 18, 1935 — September 21, 2019

George (Bud) Prince Tillman, of Kirby, went to meet our Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at the age of 84. Bud was born on May 18, 1935 in Okolona, the third of five children, to the late Alvis Fay and Lillie Mae Prince Tillman. On February 21, 1954, in McNary, Arizona, he married Colleen Madge Stuart who preceded him in death on September 15, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Alvis Fred Tillman; his sisters, Lois Jane Tillman and Mary Anne Burbidge; his son-in-law, David Roberts; and his dog, Sassy. Bud was a Christian who led by example. He was kind, passionate, gentle, soft spoken, an excellent listener, only offering advice when asked, and never said anything negative about anyone. He was always there for his family and anyone else that may have needed him. His passions included spending time with family and friends, attending any event that his grandchildren, or great grandchildren, participated in and he loved all kinds of carpentry work. He enjoyed supervising his son and sons-in-law in many building projects and it was said he had the mind of an engineer. He enjoyed anything that had to do with horses, including raising and helping to train them for many years. He took great pride in watching his grandchildren ride and compete in horse shows. Buds favorite time of year was when all of his family came in from their many different states to be together at his house for the holidays. He also loved the company of family and friends at cook outs, especially when there was music involved! He could sit and listen for hours. There were many times when his oversized garage was filled to the brim with people and instruments of all kinds. He attended the Circle Cross Cowboy Church in Glenwood, and the family extends special thanks to this congregation for their fellowship and support, often bringing the church to Buds home over the years. Bud never shied away from hard work, and he expected the same of everyone else. He worked in a sawmill from the time he turned 17 until he retired at the age of 64 from Bean Lumber Company. He did his best to instill his work ethic into his children and grandchildren. Left to honor Bud and remember his love are his son and daughter- in-law, Donnie and Teena Tillman of Malvern; his daughters and sons-in-law, Chery Roberts of Yadkinville, North Carolina, Tammy and Robert Heinz, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and Renanda and Michael Bailey of Kirby; 16 grandchildren and their spouses, Brian and Leslie Tillman, Wesley Tillman, Sandi Tillman, Robby and Amber Byler, Michael and Kendra Byler, Melanie and Tripp Howie, David and Bobbi Roberts, Robyn and Steve Clark, Paul and Rebecca Roberts, Ashley and Cody Pierce, Stephen and Ana Heinz, Amber and Dustin Young, Aubrey Bailey, Andrea and Brian Holder, Ashton Bailey and Dinah and Cory Davis; 27 great grandchildren; his sister, Wanda Faye Pipkins of Newcastle, California; extended family across many states; and a host of longtime friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 27, 2019, in the Circle Cross Cowboy Church in Glenwood, with Bro. Kevin Jewell and Bro. Rickey Meeks officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, 12:00 noon until service time, at the church. Interment will be in the Bear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Brian Tillman, Wesley Tillman, David Roberts, Stephen Heinz, Tripp Howie, Cody Pierce, Brian Holder, Dustin Young, J.J. Cox and Randy Cogburn. Honorary pallbearers will be Leroy Bailey and Gary Bailey. Memorials may be made to Bear Creek Cemetery, P. O. Box 201, Kirby, Arkansas, 71950 or Circle Cross Cowboy Church, P. O. Box 614, Glenwood, Arkansas, 71943. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
