Jackie Smithie Adams Moncus

Jackie Smithie Adams Moncus, age 79, of Amity, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 8, 2012. He was born on September 19, 1932, in Pike County, the son of Joseph Moncus and Glen Adams Moncus. On June 11, 1958, he was married to Barbara Tuggle. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jocylin Garner; his parents; three brothers, John Moncus, Pete Moncus and Claudie Moncus; and two sisters, Reba Reeves and Lillian B. Moncus. Jackie was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the boilermakers union, a self-employed welder and was retired from Alton Bean Trucking. He enjoyed entertaining his family, spending time on the farm and volunteering for various charities and local functions. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Moncus of Amity; one son and daughter-in-law, Jackie and Donna Moncus of Wilmington, North Carolina; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jo Anne Garner of Kirby, Brenda and Randy Hardy of Amity and Janet and Kevin Fant of Kirby; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Moncus of Amity; and seven sisters, Stella Higginbottom of Canoga Park, California, Birdie Spradlin of Tyler, Texas, Pat Davies, Martha Eppler and Mary Cerny, all of Sacramento, California, Helen Harrison of Ardmore, Oklahoma and Betty Buck of Amity. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 11, 2012, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. John McAnally officiating. Visitation will be held Friday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Interment with military honors will be in the Caney Valley Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Tommy Bean, Gary Bean, II, Harold Owens, Tom Sutton, George Brizendine, Landon Wilson, James Clyde Bardwell and Bobby Woodall. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Timothy Webb, Dr. Patrick Dolan, the nurses and staff at the Glenwood Health and Rehab and Dr. Martin Koehn and the nurses and staff of Arkansas Hospice, 5th Floor, Mercy Hospital Hot Springs.
