Jewel Donaldson, age 74, of Kirby, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 14, 1942, in Amity, the daughter of Clay Smith and Madie Spears Smith. On September 14, 1960, she was married to George V. Donaldson. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Chad Carter; her granddaughter, Denee Porter; her parents; her brother, J. C. Smith; and two sisters, Joyce Jenkins and Aline Jenkins. She was a member of the Midway Full Gospel Church in Kirby, whose greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Jewel was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband, George V. Donaldson of Kirby; one son and daughter-in-law, George "Boots" and BJ Donaldson of Newhope; four daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Joe Tigue of Kirby, Linda and Cecil Carter of Bonnerdale, Shirley and Glen Montgomery of Poyen and Lisa and Larry Porter of Kirby; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; one brother, Junior Smith of Kirby; two sisters, Lola Dollar and Elmeda Hancock, both of Glenwood; her honorary sister, Betty Epperson of Daisy; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, February 17, 2017, in the Midway Cemetery in Daisy with Bro. George "Boots" Donaldson and Bro. Billy Thompson officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Kevin Tigue, Clayton Carter, Steven Ledbetter, Andre Ford, Chace Wilson and George A. Donaldson. Honorary pallbearers will be Denny Cook and Eric Wehunt.
