Dr. Kenneth Edward Horner, age 83, of Hot Springs, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019. He was born on October 25, 1935, in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, the son of Randall Harrison Horner and Leah Purdue Rossman, and stepfather George McCaslin, who preceded him in death. On April 10, 1959, he married Naomi Hooper in Hot Springs.
Kenneth proudly served his country in the US Air Force and was stationed in Japan. He was a math teacher at Southwest Jr. High School and High School Principal in Jasper, AR. He served with Gideons International for forty-five years. He also was a member of the American Legion.
Ken loved to help people and was an active part of the Oasis Food Pantry with Trinity church for over twenty years. He traveled the US as well as 31 countries.
He is survived by his loving wife, Naomi Hooper Horner of Hot Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Teresa Horner of Hot Springs; daughter and son-in-law, Tonya Redman-Reck and James Reck of Hot Springs; four grandchildren, Gunner and Zane Horner and Carson and Luke Redman, all of Hot Springs; two sisters, Janice McCaslin of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, and Rebecca McCaslin of Escondido, California; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Samuel and Joan Hooper of Lindale, Texas, and Sam and Joyce Hill of New Castle, Pennsylvania; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many wonderful friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Trinity Church, Hot Springs with Pastor Bobby Thornton officiating.
Interment will be in the Ozark-Lithia Cemetery, Hot Springs.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at Trinity Church.
