LaVanda Golden

LaVanda Golden, age 83, of Langley, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018. She was born on March 6, 1934 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, the daughter of Elma T. Smith and Mary Lizzie Gann Smith. On July 27, 1954, she was married to Vernon G. Golden who preceded her in death on July 6, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Odell Smith, Elmer Smith and Delmer Smith. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She enjoyed crocheting and was known for her quilts. She loved to cook for her family and friends. She is survived by six children and their spouses, James and Arlene Golden of Langley, Elaine and Gary Brinkley of Benton, Kathy and Benny Ezell of Hot Springs, Shawna and David Writer of Berryville, Kelly and Sissy Golden of Falls Chapel and Shelly Boone of Heber Springs; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Euna Faye Spears of Amity, Annie Funderburk of Kirby and Cordelia Clements of Arkadelphia; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 9, 2018, in the Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Keith Shewbart officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Langley Hall Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
