Larry Earl Overton

August 27, 1953 — February 2, 2014

Larry Earl Overton, age 60, of Amity, passed away in God's country at the end of the "trail ranch" on Sunday, February 2, 2014. He was born on August 27, 1953, in Little Rock, the son of Woodrow Taylor and Betty Lou Vocque Overton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, Jeremy Overton; and his brother, Roger Overton. A U.S. Army veteran, he enjoyed hunting, karaoke and was an avid outdoorsman. He was famous in the area for his Chuck Wagon races and his family will forever enjoy reminiscing about the time he rode his wagon from Amity to Clinton for an over three to four day journey just to prove he could make his way by wagon to the annual Clinton Chuck Wagon races, and what stories he had to tell after that adventure. He was a man whose heart was overflowing with God and would often speak of his love and faith in Him. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren, whom he loved with all his heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but he will live on in each of their hearts forever. He is survived by his seven children and their spouses, Rebecca and Mike Geise of Harrisburg, South Dakota, Jeremy and Stephanie Skaggs of Malvern, Tony and Heather Overton of Springhill, Kimberly and Al Formby, Tiffany and Forrest Cagle and Austin Overton, all of Prescott and Kamery Palmer of Amity; twenty-two grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Stefania and Terry Baldwin of Bryant and Sandra and Layton Garner of Little Rock; two nephews, Rusty Overton and Shawn Baldwin; two nieces, Carrie Overton and Melissa Cowden; his best friend, Kandy Kuykendall of Amity; and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 6, 2014, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Verlin "Bud" Coleman and Bro. Danny Harmon officiating.
