Laura Mae Higginbotham

Laura Mae Higginbotham, age 65, of Amity, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018. She was born on January 18, 1953, in Noel, Missouri, the daughter of George Edgar Whitaker and Nellie Verena Stout Whitaker. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dan Whitaker and George Whitaker; and one sister, Sue Hammer. Just four days after Laura passed away, the true love of her life whom she had spent more than twenty cherished years with, Jerry Beaver, also passed away on November 19, 2018. She was a 1971 graduate of Highland High School in Ault, Colorado. From September 22, 1974 until 1994, she was married to Lee Higginbotham. Laura enjoyed drawing, playing the guitar, crafts, hunting, gardening, traveling, meeting and making new friends and experiences. For several years, she and Jerry worked together running a karaoke business and enjoyed singing karaoke themselves. Her greatest joy in life was spending time visiting with family and friends, even if it was only by phone, she loved every minute she spent with her loved ones. She is survived by two daughters, Brigette Renfro and Kathy Higginbotham; one stepson, Garland Beaver and his wife, Paula; one stepdaughter, Loretta Thomas; three brothers, Jack Whitaker, Jim Whitaker and Bill Whitaker; three sisters, June Ehr, Lee McNutt and Ella Dyer; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, Glenwood. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
