Lavern Lambert Ashley

Lavern Lambert Ashley, age 87, of Amity, died Sunday, January 12, 2014. She was born on July 21, 1926, at Amity, the daughter of Thomas Patrick Lambert and Birdie Mae Geer Lambert. On May 10, 1943, she was married to William Drew Ashley, Sr., who preceded her in death on May 8, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her son, William Drew Ashley, Jr.; her grandson, Micah Davidson; her parents; one brother, Fred Lambert; and three sisters, Verona, Josie and Joan. For many years, she did the book work for the family businesses and was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, all kinds of craftwork, mowing her yard, working in her flower beds and spending time outdoors. Her greatest joy in life was raising all of her many "children", whom she dearly loved each and every one of them with all her heart. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and sister and she will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She is survived by eight children and their spouses, Rena Mae Williams of Hot Springs, Betty and Robby Wilson of Amity, Dennie and Liz Ashley of Conway, Ronny and Lorie Ashley of Amity, Reba and Dwayne Edge of Amity, Donna and Tony Moore of Moore, Oklahoma, Brittany Ashley of Amity and Kimberly Ashley of Texas; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and LeRoy Bannach of San Diego, California; several nieces and nephews; and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 16, 2014, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Bobby Lock officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Sweet Home Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Robby Wilson, David Lee Ashley, Dennis Ward, Landon Wilson, Mike Simpson and Loyd Milam. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sweet Home Cemetery Fund, 2457 Hwy. 84, Amity, Arkansas, 71921. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
