Luella Mae Warble Harp

December 14, 1917 — September 4, 2014

Luella Mae Warble Harp, 96, of Amity, went home to be with her Lord, Thursday, September 4, 2014. She passed peacefully in her sleep at the home of her son, Jim Harp, in Watkinsville, Georgia. Luella was preceded in death by her parents, John & Pearl Warble, her husband John Rozelle (J.R.) Harp, and her daughter Julia Ann Adams. She is survived by her sons, John Henry Harp of Amity, and James (Jim) Thomas Harp of Watkinsville, GA; 8 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; four sisters; and one brother. Luella was born in Corunna, Indiana on December 14, 1917, the oldest of 13 children. She married her husband of 56 years, J.R. Harp, on February 11, 1939. The Harps moved from Kendallville, Indiana to Amity in July of 1952 and became a beloved part of their community. Luella was a dedicated follower of Christ and member of Shiloh Church of Christ where she served the Lord in many ways over the years, holding several church offices and faithfully teaching Sunday school. In addition to being a housewife and mom, she enjoyed many hobbies, especially digging up old bottles and collecting antique glassware. Luella never met a stranger and was always ready to talk about her family and her Lord. She was a powerful prayer warrior and looked forward to one day being reunited with all her loved ones who had gone on before her. Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Shiloh Church of Christ with Bro. Rick Collie and Rev. Jim Harp officiating. Interment will be in Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Visitation will be Friday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
