Luther Franklin Turner

Luther Franklin Turner, age 85, of Langley, died at the home he proudly built on Tuesday, October 9, 2012. He was born on January 10, 1927, at Dierks, the son of Gus Turner and Coy Dove Miller Turner. On June 21, 1951, he was married to Ruby Faye McCauley. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Linda Faye Simmons; two brothers, Cecil Turner and Clifford Turner; and three sisters, Lorene Jackson, Ethel Job and Mildred Collison. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy; a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in the Korean War; and a member of the Mount Joy Free Will Baptist Church. He loved fishing, traveling and eating out. He is remembered by his family as the smartest, hardest working, most unselfish and gentlest man they've ever known. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruby Faye Turner of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Benny Kelley of Langley; five grandchildren and their spouses, Kris and Bree Kelley, Jennifer Blankenship, Kevin and Alissa Kelley, Kaci and Pike Palmer and Nikki and Josh Neel; ten great-grandchildren, Jacob, Landon, Maverick, Jordan, Rachel, Kamry, Carlie, Taylor, Roselynn and Brayden; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 11, 2012, in the Mount Joy Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Raymond Dees and Bro. Joe Ray Short officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Mount Joy Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Kris Kelley, Kevin Kelley, Pike Palmer, Josh Neel, Benny Kelley and Jeff Carver. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Turner, Wendell Turner, Wesley Turner and Sonny Simmons. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations may be made to the Mount Joy Cemetery Association Fund, c/o Carolyn Monroe, 3791 Hwy. 70 W., Kirby, Arkansas, 71950.
