Marcia Miles

October 9, 1926 — February 18, 2020

Marcia Langford Miles, age 93, passed away February 18, 2020 in Athens, Texas (formerly of Arkadelphia). She was born October 9, 1926 at Lockesburg, Arkansas, the daughter of John and Bernie Potts Langford. She married Francis Leroy Miles on November 26, 1952. They were blessed with their only child, John, in 1956. She was a Registered Nurse Emeritus, and graduated from the St. Josephs School of Nursing, Hot Springs. She also studied at Charity Hospital, New Orleans, Louisiana. During her forty-four year nursing career, she was employed by hospitals in Hot Springs, Little Rock, Texarkana, Texas, Dallas, Texas and Arkadelphia. She retired as Director of Student Health Services at Henderson State University, Arkadelphia. After retirement, she was a hospice volunteer for the Arkansas Department of Health. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Athens, Texas and the Auxiliary of the Gideons International. She was a former member of Second Baptist Church, Arkadelphia, the Arkansas and Clark County Retired Teachers Associations, the Arkansas and Texas Registered Nurses Associations and the Southwest College Health Association. She served on the Board of the St. Josephs Alumni Association. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dr. Leroy Miles, grandson Joshua Langford Miles, niece Martha Ann Langford Sisk and cousin Sarah Elizabeth Zachry. Survivors include her son John Miles and his wife Barbara of Athens, Texas, her brother Dr. Paul Langford and his wife Beverly of Nashville, Tennessee, niece Sarah Beth Langford Deceurs of Mandeville, Louisiana, great nephew Adam Michael Sisk and his father Michael Sisk of Nolensville, Tennessee, the wonderful family she gained when John married Barbara, and other relatives and friends. A service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Davis-Smith Funeral Home in Glenwood. Visitation will be at 9:30 AM prior to the service. Interment will be at 2 PM on Saturday, at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lockesburg, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Ken Vaughn, Matthew Lowrey, Brent Pinkerton, Jake Raines, Charlie Woolf, and Dr. Mickey Slimp. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Hill, Dr. Preston Hobson, and Rev. Ann Russ. Memorials may be made to the Global Missions fund at First Baptist Church, 105 South Carrol St., Athens, TX 75751; the Gideons International, PO Box 356, Arkadelphia, AR 71923; St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee; or the charity of your choice.
