Margaret Spies, age 72, of Mount Ida, died Thursday, April 21, 2011. She was born on September 1, 1938, at Springhill, the daughter of L. D. Stevenson and Florene Bates Stevenson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ralph Stevenson. She resided in California for over forty years, where she farmed citrus groves, avocados and other produce. She was Christian in her faith, enjoyed playing the harmonica, singing and listening to gospel music. She took great joy in entertaining her family and friends. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Donna Dobbs of Pencil Bluff; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Margie Stevenson of Los Angeles, California; one sister, Delores Szomer of Hinesville, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 25, 2011, at the Mount Ida First Assembly of God Church with Bro. Charles Ballentine officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, at the church. Interment will be in the Stanley-Standridge Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Memorials may be made to the Gideon's International, P.O. Box 1087, Mount Ida, Arkansas, 71957. Honorary pallbearers will be the doctors, nurses and staff of the Montgomery County Nursing Home.
