Marie Morphew Kersey

Marie Morphew Kersey, age 86, of Kirby, passed away Monday, March 18, 2019. She was born on August 7, 1932 at Rosboro, the daughter of James Elmer "Jack" Wisener and Nona Vera Stelter Wisener. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Payton A. Morphew, Jr. in 2005 and in October 2013, she married Kirby Kersey. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Ricky Morphew; her daughter, Connie Morphew; her grandson, Brian Odom; her brother, Vernon Wisener; and two sisters, Bonnie Jean Wilson and Violet Sparks. Marie was a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed being outdoors admiring nature, driving the back roads of Arkansas, riding horses, singing, listening to music, swinging in the porch swing with her grandchildren and being with her family. Marie had a great imagination that was reflected in her ability to tell stories and write poems. She had an infectious laugh, a larger than life personality and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Kirby Kersey of Kirby; her son, Terry Morphew of Hot Springs; two daughters, Lynda Odom and her husband Don, of Venice, Florida and Reva Reedy and John Floyd of Lake Charles, Louisiana; five grandchildren and their spouses, Brent and Connie Odom, Clay and Melissa Odom, Jeffery Morphew, Caleb and Laura Morphew and Haylee and Ricky Young; ten great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Laverne Shenefield of Huntington, Indiana; five step-children and their spouses, Sharon Sparks, David and Becky Kersey, Suzan and Ed High, Sandra and Charlie Showalter, and Bobby and Gina Kersey, all of Indiana; fifteen step-grandchildren; thirty-one step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 23, 2019 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Bobby Golden and Bro. Jack Herring officiating. A private interment will be conducted by the family at Mount Joy Cemetery. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
