Mavis Pauline Kirby

Mavis Pauline Kirby, age 93, of Glenwood, died Wednesday, February 27, 2013. She was born on July 26, 1919, at Hugo, Oklahoma the daughter of James Rampy Adams and Eugnia Thomason Adams. On March 7, 1937, she was married to Rev. Robert C. Kirby who preceded her in death on October 19, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, AF First Class Teresa Ann Allgaier; her grandson, Marlin Mudd, Jr.; and her nine siblings. She was the last of ten children in the James Rampy Adams family. In her early years, she lived in the Alpine and Amity area, and in later years she and Robert lived in many different towns serving as pastor for area churches. She was a dedicated Christian and child of God, who was a wonderful helpmate and pastor's wife during her husband's sixty years in the ministry. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Francis C. and Larry Mudd and Paula Mae Kirby, all of Alexandria, Indiana; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Joe Thomason of Fort Worth, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 3, 2013, at the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Jerry Fagan officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Jones Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Richard Rogers, Roy Rogers, Chris Fagan, Greg Fagan, Eugene Pate and Rickey Garner. Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of the Glenwood Nursing and Rehab, for all the helping hands they gave to our precious Mom along the way. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all her friends and neighbors for all the care and love they showed throughout the years. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
