Rita Whisenhunt, age 81, of Glenwood, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020.
She was born on July 5, 1938 in Vallejo, California, the daughter of Henry Jay Slaff and Alice Rita Duff Slaff Cockrell. On July 20, 1954, she was married to Wayne Whisenhunt who preceded her in death on May 1, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Rex Cockrell and Jay Slaff; and one sister, Helen Clinger.
She was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Mount Ida and active with the Glenwood Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed listening to music while cleaning her house and was a loving mother. She was considered a very strong woman by her family.
She is survived by five children, Ronnie Alexander of Glenwood, Cora Whisenhunt of Nathrop, Colorado, Eric Whisenhunt of Fayetteville, Scotty Whisenhunt of Malvern and Michelle Whisenhunt of Tulsa, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and her special friend, Stanley McCaslin of Royal.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, January 15, 2020, in the All Saints Catholic Church with Father Joseph officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Fancy Hill Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be Emmit McCaslin and David Hargrove.
