Roger M. May, age 84, of Kirby, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2019.
He was born on October 14, 1935, in Dallas, Texas, the son of Larkin May and Pearl Davidson May. On February 28, 1958, he was married to the love of his life, Martha Jane Adams May, who preceded him in death on June 13, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Donna May; his parents; two brothers, JR May and Merrill May; and four sisters, Marguerite May, Addie May, Zita Davidson and Glenda Fon Ray.
Roger was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and the Army Reserves, for a total service of twenty-four years. He was a foreman at the glove factory in the early seventies and then began working as a master carpenter in residential construction. He was a member of the Caney Valley Missionary Baptist Church and was a 32nd degree Master Mason in the Glenwood Masonic Lodge #662. Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, growing a garden and was a great storyteller. He liked to read and never stopped educating himself throughout his life. He adored his family and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Renay May of Hope; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Darrell Wilhite of Amity and Jorey and Clayton DeBoer of Hot Springs; six grandchildren, Japheth May and his wife, Jade, Sarai Reed and her husband, Austin, Dr. Abigail Wilhite and her fiancée, James Bristow, Hank Greene, Bill Greene and Bob Greene; three great-grandchildren, Paisley Reed, Jace May and Jarett May; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 7, 2019, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. Jeff May officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
