Ruthie Mae Turner McKinnon, age 89, of Kirby, died Saturday, July 30, 2011. She was born on March 15, 1922 at Daisy, the daughter of James A. Dwyer and Mary E. Walston Dwyer. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Veston "Vet" Turner; their infant daughter; and her second husband, Lloyd McKinnon. She was a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, a former employee of the Glenwood Nursing Home and a cook for the Glenwood Senior Citizens Center for many years. After her retirement, she enjoyed attending the Glenwood Senior Citizens Center and visiting with her friends there. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Joyce Turner of Glenwood and Loy and Lisa Turner of Kirby; two step-daughters, Mildred Reid of Glenwood and Dorothy Davis of Amity; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Dillard Dwyer of Kirby. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 2, 2011 in the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Harold Turner and Bro. Bobby Golden officiating. Visitation will be Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Bear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Clint Turner, Brent Turner, Josh Turner, Patrick Hughes, Stephen Hughes and Joey Spadoni. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
