Sharon Ann Dingler

February 7, 1952 — November 12, 2019

Sharon Ann Dingler, age 67, of Kirby, died Tuesday, November 12, 2019. She was born on February 7, 1952, in Auburn, California, the daughter of Othor and Pauline Mack Garner. On June 20, 1970, she was married to Ronnie Dingler. She was preceded in death by Ronnie, her parents and brothers Larry Garner and Bob Garner. She was a 1970 graduate of Kirby High School. Sharon was the youngest of three rowdy older brothers and to survive, had to be tough. She moved to Arkansas permanently in 9th grade where she met Ronnie; they were married four years later. Following the wedding, they moved to Rota, Spain where Ronnie was stationed and there began her life as a wife. In addition, she also became sister and friend to another rowdy group of young men from all over the United States, Ronnie's Navy buddies. They were and have always remained, family. She gave birth to Tonya in Spain, a first-time mother thousands of miles from home with Ronnie the only one in attendance, who spoke the same language. She worked at the Pike County Sheriff's Office as a dispatcher and jailer for many years. Among the things she did there, the most memorable to many, was the dispatch of the annual Santa sighting and reading of "The Night Before Christmas." There too, she made many more friends who became family. She loved flowers and her yard was often a botanical showplace. She enjoyed riding motorcycles with her brothers and friends. She loved to travel and made many trips back and forth to California to see her beloved family. After their children were grown, she and Ronnie worked on the road where she took care of him and a great many more rowdy boys in their extended IBEW family. They too, were and will always remain, family. She was among the founders of the Daisy Volunteer Fire Department. She was a Brownie troop leader, coached PeeWee basketball and was an avid and rabid fan of anything her kids and grandkids played. She was very involved in her kid's lives- classroom Mom, softball Mom, basketball Mom and just plain "Mom" to every friend who ever entered the doors of the "log house," a place of love that was a home and sanctuary for friends and family over the years. She was well-known for her shenanigans, spirit of fun and contagious laughter. She was always smiling. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Tonya and John Bell of Sherwood/Glenwood and Danielle and Mich Brown of Kirby; grandchildren, Cole and Aubree, Trevor Edwards, Elijah Williams and Auburn and Ronnie Beau Brown; three great-grandchildren, Rebekah, Jonah and Isaiah Davidson; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Janice Garner of Grass Valley, CA, sister-in-law, Alyce Garner of Grass Valley, sister-in-law, Shirley Garner of Newcastle, CA; nephew and caregiver, Dwayne Garner of Kirby and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be missed by two generations of adopted daughters, sons and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 16, 2019, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Dewight Mack and Dewayne Mack officiating. Visitation will be Friday, November 15th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Dougan, Dustin Brymer and all of her nephews, their Navy family, IBEW family, Roger Welch, Lena Ray, Jamie Pipkins and the fine caregivers of Kindred Hospice.
