Steve Herring, age 58, of Bismarck, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019. He was born on November 6, 1960, in Hot Springs, the son of James Edward Herring and Iris Joann Crews Herring. He was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and worked for many years in construction. An avid outdoorsman, Steve truly loved the wilderness, spending time hunting, fishing and enjoying the beauty of the woods and the mountains. He will forever be remembered as a teller of long, tall tales, and he taught both of his sons to always cherish the old-time wisdoms that were handed down throughout the years from generations past, teaching them so many valuable lessons to carry on. He is survived by his wife, Rita Herring of Bismarck; his sons, Heath Herring and Matthew Herring, both of Bismarck; his mother, Joann Herring of Glenwood; his grandmother, Virgie Mae Crews of Glenwood; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Vicki Herring of Kirby and Eddie and Donna Herring of Glenwood; two special cousins, Donny Cannon of Friendship and Vic Forga of Glenwood; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members; and a host of wonderful and life-long friends. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 24, 2019, in the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Jack Herring and Bro. Keith Shewbart officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, 9:00 AM until service time at the church. Interment will be in the Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Eddie Herring, Donny Cannon, Vic Forga, Darren Bardwell, Marion Reid, Paul Baker, Jamie Huey and Craig Martin.
