Sue Ketchum Strasser

September 10, 1940 — April 15, 2019

Sue Ketchum Strasser, age 78, of Joplin, Missouri, formerly of Glenwood, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2019. She was born on September 10, 1940 in Hot Springs, the daughter of Walter Cletis Ketchum and Martha Laverne Whisenhunt Ketchum. She was preceded death by her parents; and her older sister, Gaylene Ivy. Sue was a 1957 graduate of Glenwood High School and she cherished the friendships she maintained with her classmates through the years. She lived in Northwest Indiana, where she raised her family and retired from NIPSCO. She then moved back to Glenwood where she worked at Wrights Food Center for many years. Next, off to California where she met the love of her life, Bryce Sutton. Together they had many adventures and finally settled in Joplin, Missouri. Sue loved her Lord and adored her family. She enjoyed traveling, a good game of Scrabble and was an excellent cook. Her most cherished times were spent with her favorite person, her beloved grandson Jacob Szmuc. She spent many hours in the bleachers watching him play baseball. She also enjoyed visits from Bryces nephews and niece, Jacob, Jackson and Brook. Sue treasured every relationship she had made throughout her lifetime and felt truly blessed to have so many wonderful people that loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her companion, Bryce Sutton of Joplin, Missouri; her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jeff Morphew of Glenwood; her grandson and granddaughter, Jacob and Beth Szmuc of Hot Springs; her great-grandson, Ryne Michael Szmuc; her brother, Roger Ketchum of Glenwood; her sisters and brother-in-law, Judy and Joe Costa of Bonnerdale and Deborah Scott of Hot Springs; her lifelong best friend, Louise Wettstein of Chesterton, Indiana; her cherished caregiver, Sheila Wolf; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood. Memorials may be made to Grants Chapel Cemetery Association, c/o Karroll Morphew, 1501 Dollar Road, Glenwood, Arkansas, 71943. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
