Wilma Joyce Horton Moore, age 87, of Arkadelphia, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019.
She was born on January 12, 1932, in Kilgore, Texas, the daughter of Henry Hudson Horton and Clemmie Lee May Horton. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Ben Horton.
She worked for many years as a volunteer with the Baptist Hospital Auxiliary, where she truly loved working in the hospital gift shop, wrapping gifts for the patients and new babies. She also volunteered at the Twin Rivers Nursing and Rehab and attended Grace Bible Church in Arkadelphia. Wilma was a very active member with the Arkadelphia Senior Citizens Center, where she loved spending time with her friends, and up until her recent illness, spent every Friday night at their dances.
She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Bill Buchanan of Tyler, Texas, Jeanie and Brad Thrower of Kilgore, Texas and Sunie and Steve Solomon of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren, Joey West, Brad West, Susan Manning, Jill Gee, Rudy Thrower, Ann Reeves and Stylles Solomon; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; her siblings, Billie Garner, John Horton, Jo Gregory, James “Doboy” Horton and Betsy Penney; her special friend, Carl Conley of Jacksonville; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members; and host of wonderful friends.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 13, 2019, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Pastor Brad West officiating.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, 9:00 AM until service time.
Interment will be in the Grants Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Craig Digby, Henry Medrano, Randy Williams, Steve Solomon, Ronnie Penney and Trenton Barkley.
