Winnon Arivett

Winnon Arivett, age 86, of Dover, Arkansas, formerly of Garland, Texas, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019. He was born on June 14, 1932 in Langley, the son of Lawrence Arivett and Mary Lawless Arivett. On April 25, 1951, he was married to Ivene Howard. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Vernon Arivett; and three sisters, Dulene Cowart, Verniece Burgess and Glennie Hunter. He was retired from Texas Instruments and was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He and Ivene were long time members of the New Heights Baptist Church in Wylie, Texas before moving to Arkansas three years ago and changing their memberships to Bakers Creek Baptist Church in Russellville. He loved reading his Bible and spending time with his family. He has a vast collection of pictures, films and video tape of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that he has documented through the years. He enjoyed playing board games and his morning coffee and apple pie at Wattaburgers. He is survived by his wife, Ivene Arivett of Dover; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Rebecca Arivett of Arlington, Texas, David and Julie Arivett of Round Rock, Texas and Joel and Laurie Arivett of Dover; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren with two more on the way; two brothers, Leroy Arivett and Hoyt Arivett, both of Langley; three sisters, Thelma Phillips of Athens, Dorothea House of Dierks and Jeanette Magar of Hot Springs; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 17, 2019, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Steve Foster officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Langley Hall Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Crump, Daniel Crump, Gary Arivett, Timmy Arivett, Josh Arivett, Joel Arivett, John Arivett and Jordan Arivett. Honorary pallbearer will be Paul Arivett.
