Allene A. Grice Turner

Allene A. Grice Turner, age 90, of Newhope, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017. She was born on May 21, 1927, in Langley, the daughter of Ollie J. Grice and Susan Znobia Lola Pinkerton Grice. On July 7, 1945 she was married to Jesse Ray Turner who preceded her in death on September 11, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Bobby Ray Turner; her daughter, Janice Kay DeGarmo; two grandsons, Jesse James Turner and Michael DeGarmo; two great-granddaughters, Courtney Jackson and Trinity Turner; three brothers; and two sisters. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Newhope. She enjoyed cooking for her family and playing bingo, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, whom she dearly loved. She will truly be missed by everyone that knew and loved her, but her memory will be carried on and cherished in each of their hearts forever. She is survived by her son, Jimmy Turner of Horatio; two granddaughters, Amanda King of De Queen and Angelique Frost of Richmond Hill, Georgia; one grandson, Jimmy Ray Turner of De Queen; five great-grandsons, Matthew Smith, Nicholas Smith, Lucas Frost, Dylan King and Taylor Turner; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 30, 2017, in the Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Newhope with Bro. Kenny Fant officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Ray Turner, Keneth Hanney, Ronnie Turner, Randy Turner, Terry Davis and Pierre Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of the Garrett Manor Assisted Living in Hot Springs; and her great-grandsons. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
