Aubrey "Bob" Huggins

May 22, 1948 — March 5, 2021

Aubrey “Bob” Huggins, age 72, of Glenwood, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021.

He was born on May 22, 1948, in Hot Springs, the son of Ila “Pete” Thomas Huggins and Dellia Ivee McClain Huggins. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marisa Huggins; his parents; two brothers, James Huggins and Ray Huggins; and two sisters, Iva Mae Harris and Arline Rubly. On December 23, 1980, he was married to the love of his life, Gladys Ann Soch Huggins.

Bob was an ordained minister, a faithful member of the Mount Calvary Church in Glenwood and loved preaching and sharing the word of God every opportunity he would get. He was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War and retired after 23 years of dedicated service, he also retired from the Texas National Guard and the Red River Army Depot in Texas. Bob served his country proudly for many years and his Lord up until he was called home to heaven.

Bob was a volunteer Chaplain for Arkansas Hospice, a Head-start SCAT driver, but is best known for being the “Bread Man” for Wright’s Grocery Store in Glenwood for many years. He always made sure there was plenty bread and Little Debbie snacks on the shelves for everyone. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, crossword puzzles, tinkering in his shop, and was a “professional” coffee drinker. His family and friends jokingly remember how he loved to make sure everyone knew his biggest complaint for the past 15 years was how the doctors all took his “biscuits and gravy” away from him!

Bob’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he adored and were the center of his world. He will be deeply missed by all who had the joy and privilege of knowing and loving him. Our family will forever be changed without him beside us, but we find comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain and is now joyfully walking the streets of gold, safely in the arms of God.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gladys “Petey” Huggins of Glenwood; his children and their spouses, James and Kathryn Huggins of Conway, Nalissala Allen of Mountain Pine and Debbie and Ricky Pruitt of Glenwood; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Charles and Trisha Huggins, Diamond and Jimmy Bailey, Kasara Huggins, Zachary Huggins, Brandon Heston, Brieanna Esser and James Adam Summitt; fifteen great-grandchildren, Justice, Gabriel, Jayden, Serenity, Ahnnabella, Ian, Alison, Kyler, Khaleesi, Addyson, Natalie, Brooklynn, Bryson, JoJo and Emma; one brother and sister-in-law, George and Regina Huggins of New Boston, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Clydia and Walter Seyl of Hooks, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
