Benny Holder

Benny Holder, age 73, of Kirby, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018. He was born on September 16, 1944 in Hot Springs, the son of Roy Holder and Virgie Evans Holder. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Kenneth Holder. On June 5, 1964, he was married to Lana Glasgow. Benny built and operated the Kirby Kwick Stop for thirty-five years before retiring from the store on January 1, 2018. On January 23, 2018, he accepted Christ as his personal savior. The light of his life was to show his cutting horses. He loved watching both his cows graze and his border collies, Scooter, Sally and Zeb. He also enjoyed playing his guitars and singing. He is survived by his wife of almost fifty-four years, Lana Holder; his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Andrea Holder; his daughter and son-in-law, Tana and Steve Risner, all of Kirby; five grandsons, Glenn Turner and his wife, Shana, Jacob Risner, Brady Holder, Brach Holder and Brantley Holder; and three great-grandchildren, Kali Turner, Kolt Turner and Levi Holder. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 3, 2018, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Raymond Dees and Bro. Kevin Jewell officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brad Baxter, Chris Anderson, Brent Turner, Adam Reid, Wade Stewart and Travis Coffman.
