Betty Catherine Tidwell

March 6, 1942 — January 10, 2021

Betty Catherine Tidwell, age 78, of Saffell, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021.

She was born on March 6, 1942, in Hot Springs, the daughter of Steve Baker and Lizzie Adams Baker. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her grandson, Evan Tidwell.

Betty was a retired teacher and principal for the Ouachita Public School District in Donaldson. She was a very active member of the Saffell Missionary Baptist Church and the most important things in her life were God, church and family. Betty was known to be selfless and put everyone else’s needs and feelings above her own. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and loved to travel.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Greg and Ginny Tidwell of Glenwood, Tommy and Karen Tidwell of Saffell and Terry Tidwell of West Fork; seven grandchildren, Amy Birdsell and her husband, Clay, Kathryn Tidwell, David Lee Tidwell, Alyssa Tidwell, Crystal Tidwell, Terrance Tidwell and Amelia Tidwell; four great-grandchildren, Brian Tidwell, Tristan Tidwell, Brodie Birdsell and Everley Birdsell; two brothers, Don Baker and David Baker, both of Glenwood; and her nieces, nephews and many cousins.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 15, 2021, in the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Matt Donnell officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the church.

Social distancing directives will be in place with no more than 66% of the total seating capacity occupied at the church, avoidance of physical contact and all attendees 10 years of age or older must be wearing a face covering at all times.

Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Pallbearers will be Paul Baker, Tim Baker, David Lee Tidwell, Clay Birdsell, Adam Baker and Matt Baker.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saffell Missionary Baptist Church Mission Fund, 467 Hwy 25, Saffell, Arkansas 72572.
