Betty Jean Bean

Betty Jean Bean, age 90, of Amity, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. She was born on October 2, 1927, in Amity, the daughter of Harold Runyan and Winnie Maxey Runyan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 50 years, Floyd Bean; and three sisters. She was a longtime member of Amity United Methodist Church. Known to the community as an educator, she taught in the Amity Public Schools and had a great passion for imparting wisdom into the minds of young people. Even after retirement from education, she continued working with youth. She is survived by her two daughters, Carolwyn Guise of Glenwood and Ellen Martin of Rogers; three granddaughters; four great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; one great-great-granddaughter; many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. At her request, there will be no formal funeral services at this time. In lieu of flowers and other customary condolences, please make memorials to Amity United Methodist Church Youth Program, PO Box 142, Amity, AR 71921. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
