Betty Jean Sanders

Betty Jean Sanders, age 86, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020.

Betty was born on November 17, 1934, in Oma, the daughter of Poley “N.B.” Tucker and Ethel Ora Southerland Tucker. On August 5, 1956 she married Harold Joe Sanders, who preceded her in death on October 15, 2008. She is also predeceased by her parents; five brothers, Boyd, Loyd, James, Clovis and Mike; and two sisters, Pauline and Lucille.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was better known as “Gar”. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Christopher and Tara Sanders and Jeffrey Sanders; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shelley and Don Burks, Rebecca and Richard Graves, and Linda and Mike Melancon; 13 grandchildren and their spouses, Stephanie and Tim Bayless, Brent, Travis, Jacob and Allison Sanders, Rachel and Michael Cogburn, Joshua Graves, Meagan and Billy Bonacci, Ryan and Erica Sanders, Tyler and Mia Sanders, Brandon and Hannah Melancon, Hannah Melancon and Daniel Melancon; seven great-grandchildren, Olivia Bayless, Carder Bayless, Alexandra Cogburn, Jaxon Cogburn, Jenson Bonacci, Jonas Bonacci, and Paisley Melancon; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Wilma Lee and Patricia and Doyce Robbins; several nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of wonderful friends.

Graveside services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 31, 2020, in the Oma Cemetery with Brother Richard Graves officiating.

Pallbearers will be her family, Brent, Travis, Jacob, Josh, Ryan, Tyler, Brandon, Daniel, Michael, Billy and Tim.

The family would like to express a special thank you to her Lakewood family. She loved you all. Thank you for loving her.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
