Beulah Vines Forga

August 31, 1923 — August 1, 2013

Beulah Vines Forga, age 89, of Hot Springs, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2013. She was born on August 31, 1923, at Sims, the daughter of Feldon Lafayette Vines and Dona Stovall Vines. On June 2, 1951, she was married to Doyle W. Forga who preceded her in death on April 2, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Logan Vines, Dee Vines, Lee Vines and Sherman D. Vines; and three sisters, Viola Standerfer, Irene Gibbs and Florene Curtis. Beulah left school early to contribute to the war effort in Mobile, Alabama. She returned to Mt. Ida High School two years later to finish earning her diploma. After graduating, she became the school secretary, where she met her future husband, Doyle Wallace Forga, when he came to the high school to pick up his GI Bill check. He liked the looks of the brown-eyed girl behind the desk and asked his nieces (who were students at the school) to introduce them. She continued her career, working twenty years at Pyron Plumlee Construction Company as a bookkeeper and accountant. When Beulah retired she turned her love of gardening into a full-fledged business. She grew many varieties of garden flowers, collected wild flowers and gathered natural materials, which she supplied to local and regional florists. She was a past Matron of the Eastern Star #585 of Hot Springs. In her later years she was a member of Leonard Street Baptist Church in Hot Springs, while continuing her lifelong affiliation with Lone Valley Church of God. Beulah was a loving mother and doting grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving daughter, Beverly Shea Buys of Hot Springs; her precious granddaughter and her husband, Betsey Claire and Josh Ledbetter of Hot Springs; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 5, 2013, in the Lone Valley Church of God, in Sims, with Pastor Bud Wilburn officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Monday, at the church. Interment will be in the Lone Valley Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Josh Ledbetter, Larry Flowers, Warren Flowers, Stephen Flowers and Richard Ledbetter. Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of Montgomery County Assisted Living and the nurses and staff of the Montgomery County Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lone Valley Cemetery Association, c/o Marsha Chambers, P.O. Box 180, Mount Ida, Arkansas, 71957. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
