Billy F. Parker, age 84, of Mount Ida, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. He was born on November 9, 1929, in Snow Hill, Arkansas, the son of Floyd Corbitt Parker and Versa Harrison Parker. On December 8, 1951, he was married to Floella Gaston Parker who preceded him in death on June 5, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Shirley Lundy and Pauline Smith. A United States Army veteran, he served in Germany and Korea. He then moved to Houston where he worked in the grocery business for over thirty years. He retired and moved to Mount Ida where he returned to work for sixteen years at the Montgomery County Courthouse. He was Christian in his faith, a member of "Camp 21" deer camp and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His many friends will remember him as a prankster and how he always had time for a visit with them. He is survived by his son, Danny Parker of Mount Ida; one brother-in-law, Eugene Lundy of Jonesville, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins and wonderful friends. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 6, 2014, in the Gaston Cemetery with Bro. Roy Brooks officiating. Pallbearers will be Lloyd Tubbs, Terry Beavers, Johnnie Moore, Ted Elder, Bruce Gray, James Dildy, Chris Elder and Jack Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be the residents of the Little Fir Community.
