Billy "Preacher" Sanders

Billy “Preacher” Sanders, age 90, of Hot Springs, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021.

He was born on September 20, 1930, in Loraine, Texas, the son of Henry Thomas Sanders and Willie Vea Tartt Sanders. On May 31, 1953, he was married to Nettie Harris.

A Church of God minister, he pastored the Oaklawn Church of God and Jessieville Church of God for many years. He retired from the Hot Springs School District as a special education bus driver. He loved being with family and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Nettie Sanders of Hot Springs; two sons, Dennis Sanders of Royal and Derrell Sanders of Chicago, Illinois; two daughters, Debbie Gorman of Hot Springs and Della Lertpenmaeta of Douglasville, Georgia; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and his sister, Martha Driscoll of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.

Private services will be held with interment in Greenwood Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
