Carol Susan "Susie" Johnson

January 15, 1953 — August 13, 2021

Carol Susan “Susie” Johnson, age 68, of Hot Springs, formerly of the Sunshine Community passed from this life Friday, August 13, 2021, after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 15, 1953, in Fort Smith, to the late Billy James Chesshir and Tommye Chesshir. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Sonny Johnson.

Susie was a graduate of Lake Hamilton High School, class of 1971, where she was a honor student, cheerleader, Beta Club Member, and participated in many other activities. Susie was a legal secretary, transcriptionist, and also performed medical transcription until her retirement in 2001. She was a member Rose of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church. She loved spending time with family and her treasured pets.

She is survived by her loving, caring daughter, Jennifer Quimby; her niece and “chip off the old block”, Leslie Chesshir; her older brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Connie Chesshir, and her younger brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Barbara Chesshir; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Vickie and Wayne Wheeler of Amity; numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly and a host of special friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 18, 2021, with Bro. J.D. Hooper officiating, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.

Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Lynch, B.J. Chesshir, Brent Roach, Ed Cornell, Scott Chandler and David Buttrum.

Honorary pallbearers are Jared Chesshir, Rodney Greis, Donald Greis, David West, Hugh Albright and Jody Albright.

Special thank you to Dr. Albert Chinn, Dr. Nayneshkumar Patel and Dr. David J. DeSoto, House Calls (Amy Henson and Josephine), Care IV Home Health (Amy, Amanda, Robyn and Brittney), Christina Chambers, National Park Medical Center ICU Nurses and Respiratory Staff.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Susie’s honor to one of the following charities: The Garland County Humane Society, Guardian Angel Cat Shelter, and/or the Boxer Rescue of Texarkana.
