Carolyn Joan Ellis Austin

Carolyn Joan Ellis Austin, age 89, of Mount Ida, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021.

She was born on December 24, 1931, in Woodberry, Arkansas, the daughter of John Ellis and Lucy Hines Ellis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Austin; her parents; two sisters, Charlotte and Janie; and her brother, Johnny Mack.

Carolyn loved spending time with her family and stayed active throughout her life playing tennis, gardening and swimming. She also loved to bake and made the best scratch biscuits and pies. Carolyn put her heart in everything she did and was always such a joy to be around.

She is survived by four children, Nancy Bryant of Little Rock, Phillip Foster of Camden, Wanda Jones (Don) of Fort Worth, Texas and Terry Beavers (Lisa) of Mount Ida; her brother Jimmy Ellis (Sheila) of North Little Rock; several grandchildren who adored her, Michael Bullerwell (Whitnee), Tammy Roberts (Chris), Melanie Rader (Greg) and Zeb Foster; 5 great grandchildren, and on December 14, 2021, she became a great-great-grandmother.

To follow Carolyn’s final wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes joined with her late husband, Charles, in the Fort Smith National Cemetery.
