Cecil Clyde Stroope

Cecil Clyde Stroope, age 92, of Mount Ida, died Wednesday, November 16, 2011. He was born on June 23, 1919, at Bonnerdale, the son of James Martin Stroope and Alice Annie Moore Stroope. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maurita Standridge Stroope; his daughter, Sue McGrew; his parents; three brothers; and five sisters. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; a member of the Mount Ida First Baptist Church and a retired cattle and poultry farmer. He was also a member of the Montgomery County Cattleman's Association and was the Montgomery County Farm family of the year in 1969. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Stroope of Mount Ida; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Joyce Stroope of Black Springs and Bill and Angie Stroope of Brighton, Tennessee; two daughters and one son-in-law, Norma and Maurice Robinson of Benton and Kay Stroope of West Helena; two step-sons, Michael Graves of Wilmington, Delaware and Mark Graves and his wife, Anna-Maria, of Claymont, Delaware; four step-daughters and their spouses, Debra and Michael Wainwright of Norman, Linda Russell of Mount Ida, Francene and Richard Pierce and April Graves-Minton, all of Little Rock; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Neola Miles and Fern Walton, both of Texas. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 19, 2011, in the Mount Ida First Baptist Church with Rev. John Guerra officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, at the church. Interment will be in the Stanley Standridge Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Richard Pierce, Kenny Ray McGrew, Randy Robinson, Dillon Stroope, Connor Stroope and Correy Stroope. Honorary pallbearers will be Hospice Home Care, West Home Health, the Montgomery County Nursing Home, Michael Ray Graves, Mark Kevin Graves, Maurice Robinson, Kenny McGrew, John Bethel, Tharold Cottrell, Sgt. James Martin Stroope, Isaac Stroope, Cpt. Brent McCammon, Erik Alexander Graves and James Porter. Memorials may be made to the Gideon's International, the Mount Ida First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O.
