Cecil E. Betts, age 76, of Hopper, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014. He was born on August 18, 1938, near Alamo, the son of Robert Clarence Betts and Elsie Viona Rasberry Betts. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Walter T. Betts, R. J. Betts, Jackie Betts and Edward Betts; and two sisters, Imogene Kellogg and Judy Forbes. Cecil was an avid hunter and hard worker. He was employed by the City of Glenwood as the superintendent of the water department for several years and enjoyed working on his farm. He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Wayne Betts of Hopper and Wade and Cindy Betts of Woodbury, Tennessee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Lynn Epperson of Glenwood and Trina and Robert Leamons of Berryville; seven grandchildren, Joanna Betts, Corey Cogburn, Cody Barrett and her husband, Jake, Alan Betts, Renee Cogburn, Jennifer Betts and Jessie Leamons; three great-grandchildren, Riley and Luke Barrett and Aubrey Betts; one brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Bonnie Betts of Mount Ida; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Willa Mae Diggs of Rescue, California, Louise Simmons of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Jean and Harlan Robbins of Glenwood and Uvonne Wheeler of Mount Ida; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date with cremation arrangements under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
