Cecil Fant

Cecil Fant, age 88, of Newhope, died Saturday, June 6, 2015. He was born on October 10, 1926 at Newhope, the son of John Henry Fant and Columbia Simmons Fant. On January 12, 1952, he was married to Billie Ruth Turner Fant who preceded him in death on December 6, 2013. A United States Army veteran, he served in World War II and in the Korean Conflict. He retired in road construction with Weyerhaeuser Company. A member of the Daisy Free Will Baptist Church, he served as a deacon. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Brenda Fant of Newhope; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Lee Cook and Kelly and Robbie Miller, all of Dierks; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, June 10, 2015, in the Daisy Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Kevin Jewell officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the church. Interment will be in Mount Joy Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Tony Davis, Pierre Davis, David Smith, Kevin Kelley, Simon Mack and Josh Collins. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
