Charlsie "Chock" McLean

April 20, 1927 — November 1, 2020

Charlsie “Chock” McLean, age 93, of Glenwood, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020.

She was born on April 20, 1927 in the Lucky community of Montgomery County, the daughter of Sterling Short and Melva Martin Short. On February 5, 1945, she was married to Edward L. McLean who preceded her in death on August 18, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Lankford; and her brother, Joe Short.

She was a wonderful, loving mother and during her children’s early years, a homemaker and stay at home Mom. Later she would work for Mount Ida Footwear and finally, J. C. Penney where she retired in her early eighties. She was an amazing cook and oil paint artist. A Christian in her faith, her ministry was definitely encouragement as she penned her notes and letters to those going through rough spots, as well as those celebrating special events in their lives. They seemed to always come in the mail at just the right time.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Sue McLean of Glenwood; her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Rick Geraci of Little Rock; her daughter, Kim Gould of Glenwood; five grandchildren, Matthew (Amber) McLean, John McLean, Katie (Michael) Ferren, Micah (Jacob) Powell and Taylor Gould; seven great-grandchildren, Emerson Kate, Luke, Elsie, Piper, Charlsie (her namesake), Magnolia and Indiana; her sister, Patricia Ward of Pearcy; and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 5, 2020, in the Mount Tabor Cemetery with Bro. Doug Jones and Bro. Erby Burgess officiating.
