Cloys L. Runyan

Cloys L. Runyan, age 70, of Amity, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016. He was born on June 10, 1945, in Elm, the son of Jessie Herbert Runyan and Nola Evelyn Lambert Runyan. On June 4, 1965, he was married to the love of his life, Judith Ann Owens. He was preceded in death by his parents. In 2000, Cloys retired from Phelps Fan Manufacturing in Little Rock as plant manager after thirty years of service. After moving back to Amity, he and his family owned and operated Judy's Affiliated Grocery for twelve years. Cloys was an elder and song leader of the Shiloh Church of Christ and a member of the Shiloh Cemetery Association. He was a former member of the Amity Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Amity Lions Club. He currently served on the Cabun Rural Health Board and the Amity Housing Authority. He had a heart for helping others and enjoyed gardening, watching wildlife, feeding the birds, listening to his dogs run, working at the church, and most of all, spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Judy Runyan, his daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and John Coon, his granddaughter, Kayla Coon and his chosen granddaughter, Kierstin Pittman, all of Amity; his brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Debra Runyan and his niece, Karla Runyan, all of Hot Springs. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 21, 2016, in the Shiloh Church of Christ with Rick Collie and Jimmy Forsythe officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, 1:00 PM until service time at the church. Interment will be in the Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Jerry O'Connell, Erman Mauldin, Dusty Skates, Troy D. Buck, Buddy Lambert and Robert Runyan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shiloh Cemetery Association, c/o Mary Alice Massey, 3345 Hwy. 84, Amity, Arkansas, 71921. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
