Curt Bean, age 81, of Amity, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021.

He was born on January 1, 1940, in the Centeridge Community (Amity), the son of Johnnie Bean, Sr. and Roxie Garner Bean. On December 8, 1958, he married his sweetie, Jane Carolyn Raines. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Alton Bean, Grady “Toots” Bean and Johnnie Bean, Jr.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Amity, where he served as the Sunday School Superintendent for twenty-six years, and also served on the Housing Authority Board in Amity. Curt was a member of the Southern Lumbermans Association and the Arkansas Forestry Association. He was the founder of the Amity Angel Christmas for Kids and head of the Bean Team.

Curt enjoyed going to the farm and raising cattle after his retirement, but his greatest joy in life was when he was spending time with his sweetie, family and his community.

He is survived by his sweetie of sixty-two years and the true love of his life, Jane Bean of Amity; his children, Gina and Thomas Garner of Amity, Tim and Debby Bean of Caddo Gap, Melanie and Craig Hall of Glenwood and Corey and Scott Thomason of Fayetteville; twenty grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; his brother, Buddy Bean of Mena; his sisters, Jean Harding of Bartlett, Tennessee, Reba Pennington of Hot Springs and Nina Johns of Amity; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 27, 2021, in the Glenwood First Baptist Church with Bro. John McAnally and Bro. Larry Linam officiating.

Visitation will be held Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood.

Interment will be in the Jones Cemetery, Amity.

Pallbearers will be Stan Bean, Shaun Bean, Wes Johns, Stan Harding, Jim Harding, Leigh Holland, Tommy Bean and Gary Bean, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Sorrells, Kenny Lyons, Bruce Doster, Kevin “Bubba” Baker and his entire Bean Team members.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Amity Angel Tree for Christmas for Kids at the Chambers Bank in Amity or at Trudy’s Café in Amity.
